In January 2025, Eduardo Costantini — the creator of Nordelta and Las Garzas — bought the El Entrevero estate at a state auction: 145 hectares at kilometer 170 of Route 10, on the way to José Ignacio. The plan, sealed with a strategic agreement with Adolfo Cambiaso, is to strengthen the polo club already operating there and develop a project with polo at its core. Costantini is convinced that easing horse-entry rules will turn Uruguay into a world sporting capital, as happened with Palm Beach, and he wants this estate to be the epicenter of that change. The project is still in its early stages, but its combination of land, brand and sport makes it one of the most talked-about announcements in the area.

In January 2025, Eduardo Costantini —creator of Nordelta, Las Garzas and the Malba museum— bought this 145 hectares farm at a state auction, on kilometer 170 of Route 10, five kilometers from Punta Piedra, on the way to José Ignacio. The land has 415 meters of frontage and two access points onto the route, and it already housed a polo club, which the businessman plans to expand. The masterplan is being drawn up, but the direction is clear: a development with polo at its heart, sealed with a strategic agreement with Adolfo Cambiaso, the world's best player, whom Costantini has known for three decades.

The underlying bet is sport geopolitics: easing the regulations for bringing horses into the country will turn Uruguay, according to Costantini, into a natural hub of world polo, much as happened with Palm Beach in the United States. Punta del Este already has the demand — every summer, the polo calendar is a central part of international visitors' agenda, with events such as La Dolfina's Sunset Polo at Fasano Las Piedras — and El Entrevero aims to become its epicentre. For the José Ignacio corridor, the arrival of the developer who transformed the Rocha coast with Las Garzas is an unmistakable signal: the strip between La Barra and the lighthouse continues to concentrate the Río de la Plata's most ambitious bets.
